Aliza Auerbach: I Stood in Jerusalem
One exhibition. Three digital experiences. Three languages.
Project goals
For Beit Avi Chai, we developed a digital experience for ״I Stood in Jerusalem״, an exhibition of photographs by Israeli photographer Aliza Auerbach, who documented the city and its people over nearly three decades, from the aftermath of the Six-Day War in 1967 to the funeral of Yitzhak Rabin in 1995. Through black-and-white photography, historical context, and audio content, the experience invites visitors to discover a changing Jerusalem: its landscapes, people, traditions, and defining historical moments, alongside the everyday details that shape the city’s character. The entire experience is available in Hebrew, English, and Russian, and has been adapted for three platforms: mobile devices, interactive touchscreen kiosks, and a virtual exhibition integrated into the Beit Avi Chai website.
The experience we built
One Story, Three Ways to Explore. 1 - Mobile Experience A digital guide offering both an audio tour and an expanded tour, allowing visitors to explore the photographs and the stories behind them at their own pace. 2 - Interactive Exhibition Kiosk A dedicated kiosk version, installed on large touchscreen displays at the exhibition entrance, offers visitors another way to discover the exhibition and navigate its content. 3 - Virtual Exhibition A version adapted for integration into the Beit Avi Chai website, allowing audiences to continue exploring the photographs and stories beyond the physical gallery. Extending the Exhibition Beyond the Gallery. By adapting the experience for mobile devices, interactive kiosks, and the web, we created different ways for audiences to engage with the content - before, during, and after a visit. The result is a multilingual, multi-platform digital experience that brings Aliza Auerbach’s photographs and the story of Jerusalem to a wider audience, both inside and beyond the gallery.
